Mariners to Close Out Spring Training in
Las Vegas

The Seattle Mariners will close out their 2009 Spring Training schedule with a pair of games in Las Vegas prior to flying to Minnesota to open the season.
The Mariners announced today that they will travel to Las Vegas for Big League Weekend to close out their 33rd spring training with a pair of games in the desert vs. the Colorado Rockies. Seattle will be the "home" team on Friday, April 3 for a 7:05 p.m. game, and will play the role of "visiting" team on Saturday, April 5 in a 1:05 p.m. contest.
The Mariners will be playing in Las Vegas for the fifth straight season, and it will be the Mariners 12th all-time appearance in Las Vegas (1983, 1991-93, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2005-2009). In 1983, Seattle played San Diego in the first Major League exhibition game at Cashman Field in Las Vegas.
The Mariners are scheduled to play a club-record 39 games this spring, 38 against other Major League teams and one World Baseball Classic exhibition game.
The regular season opener is set for Monday, April 5 when the Mariners travel to Minnesota to take on the Twins. Seattle's Opening Day in Safeco Field will be Tuesday, April 14 vs. the Los Angeles Angels.
